    Magnus Hedman all'Ancona
    Hedman moves to Italy
Celtic goalkeeper Magnus Hedman is to join Italian side Ancona on loan until the end of the season.
The Swedish international has played 19 games for Celtic this season, including all six Champions League matches.
But Hedman hasn't featured since the 3-2 loss to Lyon on 10 December.
"Magnus wanted to go on loan because he felt that his chances of first team football may have been limited at the moment," Celtic manager Martin O'Neill told the club's website.
"And his position in the Swedish national squad could be under threat.
    West Ham Hedman bid fails
"After due consideration, I agreed to the loan."
Robert Douglas in now re-established as Celtic's no.1, while Andreas Isaksson was favoured by Sweden at the tail end of qualification for Euro 2004.
West Ham recently made enquiries about taking Hedman on loan but the former Coventry City keeper has opted for Italy.
Ancona, who lost 5-0 to AC Milan on Sunday, are presently bottom of Serie A - with just five points from 18 games.
Goalkeeper Danny Milosevic, who has been released by Leeds, is on trial with Celtic - as is American striker Jamil Walker.

mega torneo precampionato quest'estate in USA : Celtic, Roma, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd.
    dal daily record di oggi:

CELTIC will this summer take part in the most glamorous and lucrative pre-season tour in Scottish football history which is set to net them millions.

The Parkhead club last night revealed they will play Chelsea, Liverpool and Roma, as well Manchester United, in a money-spinning trip to North America.

But this 13-day trip will top even that as Martin O'Neill and his players will now also take on the billionaires of Chelsea, old foes Liverpool and Italian giants Roma, three of the biggest names in football.

Tournament organisers Champions World believe Celtic are on the verge of making millions from this latest trip across the Atlantic.

O'Neill's side will face superstars such as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Adrian Mutu, Francesco Totti and Michael Owen.

But it is the off the field prize which is just as important. Champions World spokesman Reg Schneider told Record Sport last night: 'This isn't just about money but Celtic are opening themselves to a huge market. I can't begin to describe how many fans they have over here.

'Commercially they will do very well but it also about spreading the word of Celtic and winning more fans over as the American kids are now more wise about soccer.

'We could easily have sold out five or six games with Celtic involved never mind the four they will actually play in.

'The tickets don't go on sale for a few weeks and the phones have already been non-stop and we only confirmed the games a few hours ago.

'I know of fans who live hundreds of miles from the stadiums the games are being played in who are going to buy tickets in batches in hundreds.

'Last summer they managed to make sure there were plenty more diehard Celtic fans in North America and that situation will improve again.

'Celtic are a massive club, only Manchester United are bigger than them here. Fans can see a lot more games now on cable and that has helped but this tour is priceless.

'They will play Roma in the Toronto Blue Jays Stadium and I can guarantee it will be a 53,000 sell-out. In fact, all their games will be.'

Celtic's first game is against Chelsea on July 24 in Seattle then they face Liverpool two days later in East Hartford,New England on July 25.

The next stop is Philadelphia where they play United on July 28, finishing the coast-to-coast tour on July 31 in the Canadian city of Toronto for the Roma game.

David McNally, Celtic's head of sales and marketing, said: 'Our research indicates we have more than one million fans in North America and we will be undertaking a number of initiatives to build on these very strong foundations.

'As well as running soccer camps in each city, attended by 4500American children,we will be offering members of Celtic's 'World Huddle' membership scheme the first opportunity to buy tickets for what are likely to be sell-out matches.'

Last year's games against Manchester United and Boca Juniors drew huge crowds with 67,000 fans filling the Seattle Seahawks Stadium for the clash with the Premiership champions.

The games were broadcast to50countries with an audience of more than 70 million.

I have a dream...

[SM=g27818]

    Rangers 1-2 Celtic
Goals from Henrik Larsson and Alan Thompson extinguished any doubts that Celtic will depose Rangers as Scottish champions at the end of the season.

Larsson set Celtic on their way to victory at Ibrox, rising above Michael Ball to head home from six yards.

    Desailly eyes Celtic switch
Veteran French defender Marcel Desailly is interested in a move to Celtic.

The 35-year-old, who is the most capped player in French history, is looking for a new club after terminating his contract at Chelsea.

"A number of Premiership clubs want me to sign but I don't want to play against my old club Chelsea," Desailly told the Daily Record.

"I would like the chance to play for Celtic, if they want me, because I like the way they play."

Desailly won the World Cup in 1998, the 2000 European Championship and won 116 caps for his country.

He has now retired from international football but wants to carry on playing at domestic level.

"At this stage in my life it's about wanting to play with another big team with high ambitions because I know I have at least one, maybe two good years left and I think Celtic would be ideal," Desailly added.

"I also know about Martin O'Neill and I believe I could work with a manager like him.

"They (Celtic) are in the Champions League, they want to progress and I could help them do that."

Desailly is a European Cup winner with both Marseille and AC Milan but his age and wage demands may put the Scottish champions off.

    Goods news on Thompson
    Stephen Sullivan
There was good news tonight from the Lincoln Field in Philadelphia, with Martin O’Neill confirming that Alan Thompson’s injury is not as serious as was first feared.
Thompson was stretchered from the field in agony just five minutes into the 2-1 victory over Manchester United following a reckless over-the-ball tackle from Christopher Eagles and, judging from the reaction of his team-mates and subsequent TV replays, it was widely suspected that ligament damage has been inflicted.
In fact, while the midfielder did receive five stitches to a wound just below his right knee and is considered doubtful for the club's opening Scottish Premierleague match against Motherwell, the injury is relatively superficial and unlikely to keep him out for any significant length of time.
Meanwhile, in another positive and extremely welcome development, O’Neill revealed after tonight’s match that he had received “good news” on the health of his wife, Geraldine, prior to travelling to the US earlier this afternoon.

ma anche con il Barca dell'indimenticato Henrik

    Celtic to face Larsson
Henrik Larsson will be back at Parkhead in a few weeks after Celtic were drawn in the same Champions League group as the Swede's new club, Barcelona.

The two sides will clash on September 14 with the game being the Celtic legend's first Champions League appearance for the Catalan club.

The Scottish champions will also face six-times European Cup winners AC Milan and Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

Celtic have never progressed from the group phase of the competition.

Following the opening group tie with the Spanish giants, Celtic will meet AC Milan in Italy on September 29 and at home on December 7, Shaktar Donetsk away on October 20 and at home on November 2, with the away leg against Barcelona on November 24.

Manager Martin O'Neill hailed the draw as a "tall order", and admitted that his side could not have found itself with a tougher challenge.

He said: "It is great to be in the Champions League, but we couldn't have asked for a much tougher group, that is just our luck really, but let's just enjoy it.

"There were certainly easier groups, if there's such a thing in the Champions League"

"As I saw them coming out, I'd hoped that we might avoid this one."

"Real (Madrid) and (AC) Milan is another tough one, but I think we'd even taken that."

"I said a couple of weeks ago that I'm happy to be in the Champions League and it is always better to be in than out."

However, Celtic will not be fazed by a trip to the Nou Camp after defeating Barca in the Uefa Cup last season.
