Six Nations 2007 Official Thread

Vedere un grande giocatore come Wilkinson tornare a giocare e deliziarci come ha fatto ieri può solo fare piacere. La sua meta probabilmente non c'era, però ha fatto comunque una grande azione.
L'Inghilterra, alla vigilia sfavorita dai pronostici, si potrebbe inserire come outsider.
Sulla prestazione dell'Italia c'è poco da dire, due punizioni buttane, la cazzata che ha trasformato una quasi meta nostra in una dei galletti, poi con l'uscita di Scannavacca la squadra si è persa del tutto... Se si gioca così si rischia una figuraccia pure a Twickenham.
Bella la partita tra l'Irlanda e un Galles tosto e combattivo che ha tenuto il risultato aperto fino a pochi minuti dalla fine.
E domenica al Croke Park ci sarà la partitissima tra i verdi e la Francia che potrebbe valere già mezzo torneo.

Ciao! Ogni tanto riesco a ricomparire... Ieri mi sono visto la partita tra Irlanda e Galles, ovviamente tifando per i verdi! (non per niente lavoro nelle energie alternative!), assieme a Saretta che impazzava per la stanza ed ogni tanto emetteva gridolini di fronte alla tv!

S'è sfasciato Mauro Bergamasco... in compenso rientra Scannavacca, quindi se non altro stavolta abbiamo un'apertura decente in campo... anche se sabato c'è il rischio mattanza se non cambia qualcosa rispetto all'ultima partita.
Nell'Irlanda a rischio BOD e Stringer, ma rientra Shane Horgan, l'uomo che purgò gli albionici all'ultimo minuto lo scorso anno

Grandissima prestazione degli azzurri, 20-7 contro i campioni del mondo dell'Inghilterra.
Abbiamo fatto noi la partita per quasi tutti gli 80 minuti, purtroppo i soliti errori nei piazzati e la solita leggerezza in attacco hanno determinato la sconfitta.

Prima linea di nuovo grandissimi, perfetti in touche (mi ricordo solo una palla persa, a fine partita).

Grandissimo Josh Sole, Scanavacca e Troncon da monumento!

D'accordo con Billie, Scanavacca meta a parte non ha certo brillato e ha pure sbagliato due calci. Però purtroppo il convento passa questo, come apertura...
Troncon invece è stato semplicemente perfetto.
Ha dato una fantasia al gioco che non si vedeva da un pezzo, ha placcato, ha calciato bene e soprattutto ha dato una carica alla squadra come solo un grandissimo campione come lui può fare.
Mi è piaciuta anche la mischia, è tornata ad essere solida come lo scorso anno.

P.S. Hai visto quando all'inizio hanno inquadrato uno striscione con scritto Billingham e qualche altra cosa che non ho fatto in tempo a leggere?

Bella partita per intensità.
Meritata vittoria dei Galletti, soprattutto considerando le qualità di gioco di squadra e dei singoli, e considerando i diversi piazzati sbagliati.
Mi aspettavo qualcosa di più dai Greens vista "la prima" al Croke Park".
Solo delle buone folate ad inizio di secondo tempo.
Si vede che manca Stringer anche se Boss alla fine non è che mi sia dispiaciuto, anzi. Ottima prova secondo me.

Comunque alla fine è stata una piacevolissima partita.

Gran bella partita, peccato per il risultato.
Inizialmente i verdi hanno accusato la mancanza di BOD con Horgan non proprio a suo agio come centro, però hanno fatto una bella rimonta e nel secondo tempo potevano ottenere qualcosa in più.
Peccato anche che l'arbitro non abbia concesso il vantaggio quando c'era un verde (Murphy forse) che si stava facendo tutto il campo verso una sicura meta.
Sul 17-13 sembrava fatta, peccato aver preso una meta così a tempo scaduto...
Adesso sarà durissima, i verdi devono vincere le restanti tre partite e sperare che gli inglesi battano la Francia, cosa a mio parere molto difficile, per poi giocarsi tutto con la differenza punti...

sono andata a croke park con tutta l'intenzione di tifare gli irish ma per quanto non ci capisca un tubo i francesi mi sono piaciuti molto di più.

comunque per me una bellissima partita ed un'atmosfera elettrica.
da ripetere!

Ieri sono rimasto impressionato da due francesi... Beauxis, entrato quasi alla fine ma grande prestazione...ed il tallonatore francese autore della prima meta.

Il tallonatore, Ibanez, è anche il capitano della Francia... oltre a essere molto forte è uno che come carattere e grinta fa quasi reparto da solo.
Intanto O'Sullivan mostra grande fair play sull'errore dell'arbitro che è costato una meta all'Irlanda.
Una dichiarazione che vale come una vittoria e che dovrebbe servire da lezione a tutti i commentatori calcistici nostrani.

O'Sullivan refuses to blame referee for French defeat

Irish coach, Eddie O'Sullivan has refused to blame the referee, Steve Walsh for two poor second half decisions that could have turned the game.

Walsh failed to play advantage when Geordan Murphy pounced on a French knock-on and ran the length of the pitch.

Later in the game Marcus Horan was pulled back by Imanol Harinordoquy as he attempted to hack the ball over the line.

O'Sullivan said: "Steve admitted at the time when he blew the whistle on Geordan that he'd got it wrong. He apologised to the boys and these things happens."

"It's the luck of the draw and could happen to any referee. It could have gone either way with Horan and overall I thought Steve had a good game, he didn't affect the outcome of the match."

Captain Paul O'Connell admitted it was a shattering defeat but still felt Croke Park's first rugby international was an occasion to remember.

The Munster lock said: "As soon as Ronan's penalty went over we went back and talked about securing their kick off.

"I didn't do that and the bounce of the ball went their way and that decided the match. It's disappointing but that's the way it is."

British & Irish Governments Plan Ceremony in Croke Park Northern Ireland Minister Peter Hain has announced details of a joint ceremony before Irelands crunch game against England in Croke Park on the 24th February.

The significance of the game is not lost on GAA followers and republicans who remember the infamous shooting of 14 players and supporters by the British Army on the 21st November 1921. However according to GAA spokesman Ulick Magee a plan being devised by the GAA and the Northern Ireland office, will attempt to draw a line under the incident.

"We've spoken to the British government and they understand the significance of the event back in 1921. Back then 14 people were killed by British forces so in the spirit of the peace process and friendship we're proposing that we shoot 14 of their lot before the match. Then maybe have fireworks afterwards or something." Said Mr Magee.

Government Reaction
The plan has had a mixed reaction from Downing Street. Prime Minister Tony Blair thinks the idea has merit but said that it needs to be done properly and with dignity.
"Frankly I think its a small price to pay for progression in Anglo-Irish affairs, but I think the idea of getting Ray Houghton to do the shooting would be too much for many English fans to take particularly after his goal against us back in 1988. And he's Scottish which is worse."

Proposed Victims
According to informed sources, the GAA and Number 10 have already drawn up a list of names for those to be shot. The list, which is not yet agreed, is thought to be a compromise of people that both the Irish and English public dislike. Among the names are moaney-hole singer James Blunt, foul mouth idiot Jade Goody, Trinny & Suzannah, Man Utd donkey Rio Ferdinand, cream cake expert Vanessa Feltz, "comedian" Russell Brand and any of the blokes who do outside broadcasts for Sky News.

But discussions took an ironic twist when both sides agreed on shooting Belfast singer Brian Kennedy, but neither side agreed on what nationality he was. GAA representatives claim he's British with their Foreign Office counterparts claiming he's Irish. The Irish claimed no Irishman should sing or dance in such a manner and the English saying he couldn't be a Brit because he had no tattoos on his forearm and didn't wear Ben Sherman shirts. However there was eventual consensus that he should be shot regardless of his nationality.

Plans agreed
The shooting will be carried out by members of the 2nd Infantry Battalion from Cathal Brugha Barracks in Dublin. The original idea to get the FCA to carry out the executions were dropped when they revealed that their rifles are in fact made of baked-plastercine. Similarly the Garda Emergency Response Unit was discounted for fear they'd shoot more innocent civilians then claim overtime for it.

Welcome England with an open heart, says McAleese

IRISH rugby fans have been urged to give the England team "a welcome to beat all welcomes" when they run out on to the Croke Park pitch for tomorrow's historic game.

The call came yesterday from President Mary McAleese during an hour-long "touchdown" at Harlequins rugby club in the Malone area of south Belfast. This is the only rugby complex in Ireland which shares its playing and social amenities with a Gaelic football club, a concept that brought ringing praise from Mrs McAleese.

Accompanied by her husband Dr Martin McAleese on a day-long series of engagements, the President was met at Harlequins by a mini-scrum of enthusiastic junior members from St Bridget's GAA club.

They included seven-year-old Phelim Lennon and his little sister Cara (5) as well as John Duffy (8) and Ryan Dillon aged seven.

Mrs McAleese said the concept of sportsmanship and all it entailed was "beautifully honoured" at Harlequins.

The world of sport, she said, had something in its everyday living to teach others about the benefits of working together.

"What you have done here is very special - to welcome your good neighbours, St Bridget's, to share the facilities and be part of the community of Harlequins. It is one of the loveliest examples of true sportsmanship," she said.

"Keep doing what you are doing - it is going to catch on," the President predicted.

Referring to another pitch, in this case a GAA ground "with rugby posts", the President said she hoped there would be a heartfelt welcome for the English team as the occasion demanded nothing else. Mrs McAleese said she was looking forward to fantastic game of rugby but regretted she had no spare tickets at all. Harlequins chairman Kelly Wilson said they were "honoured and flattered" to welcome Mrs McAleese and her husband to the club.

spero quella che ci si aspetterebbe se giocassero al Lansdowne Road. Un parlamentare del Sinn Fein ha parlato di possibili azioni di protesta durante l'inno inglese, Eddie O'Sullivan ha fatto un appello perchè ciò non accada. Principalmente per due motivi: god save the queen era già stato suonato mesi fa al Croke Park per un altro evento sportivo (paralimpiadi, forse). E soprattutto, O'Sullivan ha sostenuto, in un intervista, che il rispetto che esigono per il proprio inno, la propria bandiera e la propria nazione, devono essere i primi a mostrarlo verso qualsiasi altra bandiera.
