Xavier sits there, barefoot and honest with a grin spread across his face. He is happy, because the crowd is happy. It is a sincerity and frankness that is reflected in his music and his performances. Xavier Rudd is a Canadian-Australian surfer and multi-instrumentalist who delivers a unique and harmonious combination of lyrics, locals, instruments and energy that is warm, powerful and emotive. His performances are captivating and his talent unmistakable, which goes some way to explaining the huge level of support that he attracts whereever he tours. As he begins you are immediately drawn into the warmth of his sound. His bare feet work the rhythm on the stomp box as he effortlessly glides his Weissenborn guitar though fluid melodies. The candidness of his vocals teamed with the depth and mysticism of the didgeridoo all provide for a unique and inspiring performance. Hailing from Torquay on the Southern Victorian coast in Australia, Xavier has a strong affinity for the beauty and naturalness of his surrounds; an influence that lends itself well to his interpretation on life, and indeed his music. Xavier has also built a strong following in North America where his performances include a set on the main stage at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, touring with Ani DiFranco and the exclusive Moonshine benefit gig in Laguna Beach, California, with Jack Johnson and G-Love. He played here earlier this year to a packed crowd at the Village and Oxegen festival and his live show is as captivating as you'll find. Catch Xavier at the Ambassador, Dublin on October 15th. Motörhead have confirmed a concert at Dublin's Olympia Theatre for Tuesday 31 October.

The show will feature past and present members of the band, fronted by ever-uncompromising singer and bass player Lemmy.

Support will be from Northern Irish rockers Therapy?


Despite numerous personnel changes over the years, Motörhead still remain a force to be reckoned with live, with classic tracks such as 'Ace of Spades', 'Stone Dead Forever' and 'Bomber'.

The band's latest album, 'Kiss Of Death', hit the shops at the end of August.

Tickets for their Olympia Theatre show are priced €54.25 and are available from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

Il "tradizionale" ShockWaves NME Awards Tour del New Musical Express raddoppia. Finora la serie di concerti organizzata dall'NME per promuovere nuovi gruppi in tutta la Gran Bretagna ed Irlanda è stata composta da un singolo tour, ma nel prossimo gennaio, forse per meglio rappresentare le maggiori tendenze musicali "coperte" dal settimanale, la carovana diventa doppia: da una parte ci sarà l'Indie rock tour, dall'altra l'Indie rave tour. "Quest'anno abbiamo voluto fare qualcosa di davvero speciale", ha affermato Conor McNicholas, direttore dell'NME, "in questo momento la scena offre tanti ottimi gruppi". L'Indie rock tour è composto da Horrors, View, Automatic e Mumm-Ra, l'Indie rave tour da Klaxons, CSS, Sunshine Underground e New Young Pony Club. Il primo inizierà il prossimo 29 gennaio dalla Ulster Hall di Belfast, il secondo il 3 febbraio dall'Ambassadors di Dublino; il primo arriverà a Londra il 23 febbraio, il secondo il giorno prima. "Fare l'Indie rave tour sarà una cosa incredibile", ha affermato Luiza Sà dei CSS. "Leggevo l'NME quando avevo 13 anni e mi scrivevo giù i nomi dei gruppi dei quali si parlava, così poi andavo a fare delle ricerche. Quindi fare una cosa simile mi sembra surreale".

Armagh-born Niall Vallely has established himself in recent years as one of
the most original and distinctive voices in Irish music. A former member o

music composed by Vallely. While based in traditional Irish forms, the musi
c draws on a wide range of influences from the worlds of jazz and classical
music.

Virtuoso Serbian violinist Félix Lajkó is best known for his spectacular Concerts of Joy celebrating Balkan music, which annually draw audiences in the tens of thousands in Budapest. Félix Lajkó is the maverick of Balkan music, a musician moving beyond boundaries.As he says himself, "My music is based on the delicacy and colourfulness of my instrument. I do not play any new types of musical genre, I only follow my own path and improvise and write music. I cannot see differences between musical styles and ways, so I play folk, classical, rock, blues and improvisational music”. Wild and dramatic yet filled with sensitivity and virtuosity, his performances have drawn him an obsessive following. Lajkó has been long championed by musicians as diverse as The Dirty Three and classical composer Alexander Balanescu.
