ciao ciao Giro
Unfortunately Mark has retired from the Giro d’Italia today. The Sligoman, who was drafted in as a very late replacement for teamamte Philip Deignan, completed the first 11 stages of the Giro, but abondoned during today’s stage on the road to Sestri Levante. Before the event he had expressed concerns about his participation, saying he would probably only last half the major tour.Indeed he seemed to struggle on some of the hillier and more difficult stages of the race, but each day he completed the course in one of the toughest Giros in recent memory.

Hopefully he can now rest, recover and return to racing
