France have suffered another setback ahead of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland with the withdrawal of Ludovic Giuly because of a leg muscle injury.

The Barcelona playmaker, who will also miss Wednesday's trip to Cyprus, joins Juventus attacker David Trezeguet on the sidelines.

Trezeguet has already been replaced in the squad by Marseille's Peguy Luyindula.

French coach Raymond Domenech is also without the suspended Patrick Vieira and injured duo Jerome Rothen and Benoit Pedretti.

Richard Dunne, meanwhile, remains Ireland's sole doubt for the Paris game.

Brian Kerr's squad trained in Malahide this morning, with the Manchester City defender sitting out the session, as he is still nursing a calf muscle complaint.

Goalkeeper Shay Given wasn't present as his wife is expecting their first child.  The Donegal man will, therefore, travel directly to Paris from Newcastle.
