O'Neill hails young duo

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP F
AC Milan v Celtic
Date: Weds, 29 September
Venue: San Siro Stadium, Milan
Kick off: 1945 BST
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill believes Ross Wallace and Aiden McGeady could be on the verge of great things.

The duo are likely to be on the bench for Celtic's Champions League tie with AC Milan on Wednesday but O'Neill is not ruling out a role for them.

"They are very fine players. They have got a great chance and I would not have any qualms about throwing them in against anybody," said O'Neill.

"Their confidence and ability has improved from when I first came."

The young duo have had to wait patiently for their chances this season but both played starring roles in Celtic's 8-1 CIS Insurance Cup win over Falkirk.

They again caught the eye after coming on in Saturday's Bank of Scotland Premier League victory over Dunfermline.

Wallace hit a hat-trick and McGeady also found the net in midweek - and O'Neill expects their progress to continue.

Celtic will hope to take at least a point from the San Siro to keep alive their hopes of progressing from Champions League Group F.
