Le bellezze di Sligo

Dimenticavo,l'altra donna famosa di Sligo,la potete trovare a Rosses Point,scagliata nel vento,con lo sguardo fisso sul mare come una meravigliosa vedetta che aspetta invano il ritorno del suo amato...



Devo dire che non ho mai visto una statua che potesse sembrare cosi vera,cosi passionale,cosi emozionante,e' indubbiamente la statua che preferisco al mondo!
In una cornice cosi bella e selvaggia come Rosses Point

La scultura e' stata realizzata da Niall Breton nel 2002.
La placca sottostante dice:
"This sculpture reflects the age old anguish of a seafaring people who watched and waited for the safe return of loved ones. The men and women of Rosses Point parish have a proud history of courage and survival, of loss and grief that should not be forgotten by future generations. It is to honour the memory of these brave people who once lived, sailed, or were lost at sea, that this woman, cast in bronze, stands to day on our headland."
