'Arrivaderci' as forgetful Italians pledge to return

THREE absent-minded Italian tourists who left their luggage, passports, and air tickets in a B&B - and promptly forgot where their accommodation was - have been reunited with their belongings. The trio - computer analyst Andrea Fornasiero (26), farm worker Simone Mariotti (26), and car park manager Roberto Pacello (28), all from Cesena, - forgot the name of their B&B just hours after arriving in the country for the first time.

But the visitors, who spent the last few days touring the south-east, were reunited with their belongings in Dublin last night - just hours before they were due to fly home - by B&B owner Carmel O'Donnell from Butlerstown in Waterford.

She hosted the hapless visitors, who knocked on her door seeking accommodation late at night with no possessions apart from newly purchased toothbrushes and T-shirts.

She spotted a report on a B&B industry website saying that their luggage had been located at Charlotte House in Manor Street, Dublin, and efforts were being made to reunite them with it before they flew out. The relieved group said they were 'very thankful' to everyone who helped find their belongings.

"We are just so happy. We love Ireland, the Guinness is the best!

The people are friendly and it is very beautiful. We will be back next year," said a thrilled Andrea.

"We always hoped our luggage and ID would be found and, no matter what happened, we had a beautiful time here."
