Irish Theatre Awards winners announced
The winners of the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards have been announced, with wins for productions by Druid Theatre Company, the Gate Theatre and the Abbey.

The Judges Special Award went to Druid Theatre Company for its staging of the complete stage works of JM Synge.

The Director of the Gate Theatre, Michael Colgan, was the recipient of a Special Tribute Award.

Christopher Meloni was named Best Actor for his performance in 'A View from the Bridge' at the Gate while Catherine Walker won Best Actress for her performance in the Abbey production of 'What Happened Bridgie Cleary'.

Best Supporting Actor went to Nick Dunning for his performance in the Gate production of 'Betrayal' with Ruth Negga winning Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the Siren production of 'Titus Andronicus'.

Siren's production of 'Titus Andronicus' also won the awards for Best Director (Selina Cartmell), Best Production and Lighting (Paul Keogan, who also won the award for his work on b*spoke's production of 'Tejas Verdes').

Tom Mac Intyre won the Best New Play award for 'What Happened Bridgie Cleary'.

The Best Opera Production award was won by Wexford Festival Opera for 'Susannah by Floyd', directed by John Fulljames; the Set award was won by Andre Barbe for the Wexford Festival Opera production of 'Pénélope'.

Sinéad Cuthbert won the Best Designer: Costume award for the Second Age production of 'How Many Miles to Babylon'.

Highlights of the awards ceremony can be seen on 'The View' on RTÉ One tonight at 11.15pm.
