Che si fa stasera? Segnalazione concerti / eventi a Dublino

Manu Chao a Dublino : vietato perderlo !


Come già ha segnalato Contec, Manu Chao e la sua band Radio Bemba saranno in concerto al Point di Dublino il prossimo 20 agosto

Sabato sera ho avuto modo di assistere a Piacenza al suo concerto (unico del tour per il nord-italia, prossimamente sarà a Volterra e Pescara)

Giudizi ?

Due ore intensissime dove la gente sul palco si è divertita tanto quanto le migliaia di persone che erano sotto (concerto intergenerazionale : pubblico dai 12 ai 50 anni)

Sudore e tecnica : non un solo minuto di noia o assoli inutili... quella band è grandiosa.
E in molti brani c'era pure il cantante dei baschi Negu Gorriak (che quando ero più giovane erano una superba punk band incazzosa)a dare manforte a Manu Chao

Per vedere due ore di Manu Chao si spende la metà o 1/3 di molte mediocri sedicenti star italiane e straniere (il biglietto costava 10 euro) che sprizzano rottura di palle e voglia di tornarsene in albergo ogni secondo che si esibiscono

Rock, Reggae, Ska, Punk'n'roll, Rumba, Merengue, Salsa, Mambo... si balla dall'inizio alla fine.

Ogni brano suonato in maniera diversa ed coinvolgente rispetto all'originale : dai brani di Manu solista a quelli dei Manonegra, sino ad arrivare alle reinterpretazioni di canzoni spagnole o centro/sudamericane

Quindi... se siete a Dublino il 20 agosto e risucite ad acquistare il biglietto per il concerto del Point preparatevi a trascorrere una serata FA VO LO SA !
Attenzione : si ride e si suda parecchio.

Ehy Moris, a proposito di musica
volevo chiedere a tutti gli Irlandiani se percaso qualcuno è a conoscenza dell'esistenza di festival e concerti in giro per l'Irlanda nel periodo di Agosto.
Io, quasi quasi, approfitto e mi faccio un po' di bei concerti.
Ah poi volevo dirvi: ho scoperto un uomo fantastico che si chiama Damien Rice è un cantante Irlandese mi sono scaricata tutto il suo ultimo Cd e ve lo consiglio. Niente Folk, fa un genere tipo alternative, io l'ho trovato molto simile a Jeff Buckley e quindi bellissimo. scaricatevelo è davvero bello, parola della Vale.

I tre di agosto sono davvero dei concertoni : i Massive me li sono persi proprio recentemente a Torino , Becks l'avevo visto 4 anni fa ed è un genio, uno scienziato pazzo della musica.

Contec, davvero non rimpiangi la stagione torinese quando dovevi sfidare la nebbia padana per andarti a vedere un concerto decente a Milano ?

Forse, inconsciamente, ho scritto Becks a causa della opprimente calura di oggi che mi ha fatto venire voglia di birra

Proprio dei bei concerti...è un peccato perdersi quei 3 di agosto ma purtroppo in quei giorni sarò già ad abbrustolirmi il sederino in calabria (certo passare dall'Irlanda alla calabria...bel controsenso!)...ma, scusate...ma che prezzi allucinanti per dei concerti!! E' esageratissimo! dal momento che, sapete, io sono quella senza un soldo con frikkettone al seguito, mi devo preoccupare??? I prezzi in Irlanda sono sempre così alti o è solo una prerogativa dei biglietti per i concerti???
Moris che tristezza sai, anch'io mi sono persa il concerto dei Massive Attack a Torino, il mese scorso...mi veniva da piangere!
Alla fine è vero che noi piemontesi ( o pseudo-piemontesi) dobbiamo sempre sbatterci in culo ai lupi per andare a un concerto decente...che palle!

i biglietti per Manu Chao sono già in mio possesso e tra poco sarò il felice proprietario dei biglietti per vedere Beck!
Il Point Depot non è il mio posto preferito per la musica (troppo grande) ma quando il cartellone è speciale.... ci si accontenta.
I Massive Attack suonano a Marley Park e avrebbero dovuto essere accompagnati da Sinead o'Connor prima che lei decidesse di ritirarsi!!!!!
I prezzi.... si, sono cari............ ma se la musica interessa... io uno sforzo lo faccio sempre (anche due!!!!!)
... ed ora attendo i cartelloni per l'inverno, spero in un arrivo dei White Stripes, dei Flaming Lips e di qualche sorpresa!!!!
altro che torino, dove la scelta era tra i Persiana jones e Neck (con tutto il rispetto per i grandi persiana.... baciami Tony)

Mio fratello è stato ieri sera al conc di Manu Chao a Pescara. Sai quanto costava ? 10 euro !!! Hanno suonato per due ore e mezza e dopo il concerto sono ritornati sul palco con altri musicisti che erano tra il pubblico e che hanno invitato a salire sul palco. Il tutto è durato fino all'una di notte ...

The White Stripes, famous rock & roll duo, play Marley Park on Tuesday, the 24th of August.

The White Stripes have been key players in the modern day rock & roll revivial that has taken place over the last few years. Alongside bands like The Strokes and The Hives, The White Stripes have reminded us why rock & roll was so good in the first place. Loud, funny, infectious, dangerous, The White Stripes comprise all the best qualities of rock music and they look pretty smart too.
The White Stripes were formed in 1997 and features the musical talents of Jack White on guitar and vocals and Meg White on drums. Coming from Detroit, The White Stripes sound is similar to other Motor City bands like The Stooges and The MC5s. By taking the bass end out of their sound, The White Stripes came up with a far more unruly, garage sound that dips into divergent influences like the folk blues of Blind Willie McTell to the glorious pop of The Kinks. Their fascination with red and white was evident on their debut single, their debut album and their early live shows and the band soon became a big name on the Detroit rock scene.

The White Stripes began to make waves in the US after two tours with Pavement and Sleater-Kinney. The release of their second album, De Stijl spread their gospel even further with tours of Japan and Australia. The White Stripes' third album, White Blood Cells was the band's breakthrough album featuring the smash hit single, "Fell in Love with a Girl". The inventive video for "Fell in Love with a Girl" got heavy rotation on MTV and was nominated for four MTV Video Awards.

The White Stripes' success saw the band move to a major label, V2 and their first three albums were re-released in 2002. Last year the band released their most recent album, Elephant and the single "Seventh Nation Army" sealed the bands place in popular culture with musicians around the world referencing the song's iconic riff. The best of the new generation of rock & roll bands if only because they know how to keep things loud, simple and immediate, The White Stripes play Marley Park on the 24th of August.

PJ Harvey

PJ Harvey, iconic singer/songwriter, plays the Olympia Theatre on the 31st of August.

Over the past decade, PJ Harvey has proven to be one of the most creative and consistent artists in rock music. Her early abrasive recordings combined a raw rock & roll sensibility with a subversive take on female sexuality but as her career matured she took on a more theatrical and iconic persona. Her latest album Uh Huh Her, sees Harvey take on a new post punk, angular sound that opens a whole new chapter in her inspiring body of work.
PJ Harvey learned to play guitar and saxophone when she was a teenager and formed the band, PJ Harvey with bassist Steve Vaughn, and drummer, Robert Ellis in 1991. PJ Harvey signed with the British indie label, Too Pure and released the singles, “Dress” and “Sheela-Na-Gig” before unleashing her debut album, Dry on the music world.

For their second album, Rid of Me PJ Harvey employed the talents of producer Steve Albini. Albini gave the album his trademark loud, noisy guitar centred production creating a harsh and angry sound that mirrored the harder-edged feel of the record. Rid of Me proved to be just as successful as her debut album and expanded her growing cult following.

Ellis and Vaughn left the band after the Rid of Me tour and Harvey became a solo artist. Her next record, To Bring You My Love was recorded with bassist Mick Harvey, guitarist John Parish and Joe Gore and the producer Flood. If her first two records were defined by a concept of sexuality that pivoted on feelings of fear, anger and rejection, her new album saw Harvey approaching sexuality with a persona that was more playful, theatrical and iconic. To Bring You My Love heralded a more bluesy, richer sound and was hailed as a masterpiece by many music critics.

In 1998, Harvey released her fourth album, Is This Desire with oblique songs based around the fallout from her tempestuous romance with Nick Cave. Two years later, after a hiatus in the Big Apple, Harvey returned to form with the Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea with a stunning array of songs featuring “Good Fortune” and “This is Love”.

Early this year she released her most recent album, Uh Huh Her an album that takes it's marker from New York post rock bands but some how transcends those artists with brilliant songs like “Shame” and “The Kingdom of Love”. A spellbinding live performer, PJ Harvey plays the Olympia Theatre on the 31st of August.
