GALWAY, Irlanda (Reuters) - L'Irlanda ieri ha vinto con orgoglio il Campionato mondiale di apertura delle ostriche 2006, battendo rivali di altri 17 Paesi nell'aprire 30 ostriche nel minor tempo possibile.
In 2 minuti e 35 secondi, il ristoratore irlandese Michael Moran ha battuto per 5 secondi lo svedese Hasse Johannesson e per 46 secondi il britannico Frederick Lindford.
"E' davvero grande portare a casa (la vittoria) per l'Irlanda", ha detto Moran, il cui padre Willie vinse il titolo due volte negli anni Settanta e il cui tempo - 1 minuto e 31 secondi - è rimasto imbattuto.
"Ce l'ho messa tutta ed è andata, non posso crederci", ha detto a Reuters il 23enne irlandese, secondo il quale il segreto per l'apertura è la mano ferma con l'apposito coltello.
