Phillip Lynott

Ciao Tutti,

I love you all my Italian friends, greetings Ireland.

Just to let you know that the Phillip Lynott statue was recently unveiled in Dublin in August by his mother Phylomena.



It´s on Harry St. off Grafton St. and just in front of Bruxelles.

For anyone who isn´t aware Phillip was Lead Singer of Thin Lizzy, he was Ireland´s first International Rockstar and has Influenced bands such as Bon Jovi, The Darkness, Bruce Springsteen, Prince and Britney Spears (only joking but he would have shagged her given half a chance1)

The likes of Bono and Geldof owe their existence to Thin Lizzy and Phillip, (Adam Clayton U2´s Bass Player modeled his hair on Phillip in the early days) Geldof got many support gigs and advice from Phillip when he was starting out, but Phillip did try shag his wife on a few occasions, the last in which he cunningly got Geldof plastered (Drunk) so much so he was collapsed in his sitting room, so Phil uttered the imortal line to Paula, "do you wanna come upstairs and see me weapon love?" this was her pre Michael Hutchence kinky stuff days, so she thought she was going up to see a gun, anyway she went upstairs with Phil at which point he whipped out his Picio and Paula screamed and legged it.

So you couldn´t trust him, but he was a great songwriter, more than I can say for the sorry bunch of pretentious wombats floating around Dublin nowadays.

One more Phil story, Phil had a week to live December 31 of 1985, he was lying in his be in agony from total sytem failure, basically his body was shutting down and he was on a one way ticket to the Great Gig in The Sky. So he calls over the cute nurse who was taking care of him in the ward.

"Nurse can you come ´ere?" he says.

" Of course Mr Lynott what can I do for you tonite are you in pain?"

" Yeah " he says " Me Balls are about to explode will ye give us a wank?"

I recently met the nurse in question she wouldn´t answer the question about whether she did pull Phil´s Christmas Cracker that night but maybe it was because she was with her 19 year old son who was Black!!!!

Thanks for posting that about the statue Moris, I wasn´t aware it was on here.

Just another couple of facts that non Lizzy/Philo fans might not be aware of.

The song Old Town was written about Dublin circa 1983, it was filmed on Grafton St. and the Ha´penny Bridge, there´s a plaque under the stone arch facing the bridge to commemorate this.

Thin Lizzy Ex members include Gary Moore, John Sykes (Whitesnakes biggest selling album 1987 which he left Lizzy for features his Songwriting and guitar skills) and Midge Ure (Ultravox "Oh Viennaaaah", and Live Aid "Feed the World" He wrote the tune that Geldof got credit for).
