Croke Park e Lansdowne Road

allora ragazzi.
piccolo problema...io e amici vogliamo andarci a vedere Irlanda-Italia il 4 febbraio 2006.
io sapevo che si sarebbe tenuta al Croke Park, per via dei lavori di ristrutturazione del Lansdowne Road...e invece sul sito ufficiale del 6N mi dice "Lansdowne Road", sul sito della federazione irlandese non accenna allo switch su Croke Park (gli ho mandato una mail, spero rispondano) e sul sito www.cslhospitality.ie/ mi dice ancora una volta "Lansdowne Road"...
qualcuno ne sa qualcosa? io ricordo di aver letto la notizia e di aver pure visto su un sito che si sarebbero giocate al Croke Park...sapete dirmi qualcosa? grazie! ciao!

il rugby si giocherà per almeno un altro anno nello scassato landsdowne.
Il croker, malgrado il GAAA ne abbia autorizzato l'utilizzo per sport non irish (fu un evento storico!) potrà essere utilizzato per calcio e rugby solo nei casi in cui il Landsdowne fosse chiuso...e a quanto pare ci vorrà ancora un bel po' di tempo!

Quanto è difficile trovare i biglietti per Irlanda-Italia.
Io ci sono andato solo una volta e quest'anno mi piacerebbe andarci con la mogliettina irish...cosi ci portiamo i nostri due tricolori!

si, ma l'accesso al Croke Park è stato deciso anche per via degli imminenti lavori di ristrutturazione del Lansdowne Road.
comunque ho ricevuto già la risposta dalla Federazione Rugby Irlandese...ho aperto la mail ora e c'era, e gli ho scritto ieri quando ho aperto questo thread

The Six Nations games will be played in Lansdowne Road Stadium. The prices on the website www.irishrugby.ie are the confirmed prices for next year. Tickets for the Six Nations matches are distributed through the clubs and branches of Ireland - you must be a member of an Irish rugby club in order to purchase tickets from them. Unfortunately there are no extra tickets for general distribution and tickets are not sold from the Union office



The visiting Unions will also receive an allocation of tickets for their game, which they will usually distribute in the same manner, through their own clubs and branches.

Tra l'altro è stato l'unico italiano convocato al best 15 dello scorso anno...

GAA reaches a deal with IRU and FAI
Croke Park will be the home venue for Ireland's rugby and football teams for 2007 following an agreement between the Irish Rugby Union (IRU), Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).




Big Time: The huge Croke Park Grandstand

The GAA, who own the 82,300-capacity stadium had initially resisted the attempts by the other bodies to use the stadium, which has always been reserved exclusively for home-grown sports such as hurling, camogie and Gaelic football.

But under the new agreement, and with Lansdowne Road set to undergo a refurbishment, Croke Park will stage two rugby internationals next February and at least three football games in 2007.

The football internationals are likely to take place in March, October and November of next year.

France are likely to be the first rugby visitors to Croke Park on the weekend of 10/11 February while England will take to the field at the north Dublin venue later in that month.

The rumoured figure for rental of Europe's fourth largest stadium is £1m ($1.76m) per match, although the details will not be disclosed, and there was no discussion over what would happen beyond 2007.

GAA president Sean Kelly said that he was "pleased" that agreement had been reached.

"The development is practical and necessary to ensure that Irish sport and Irish sports followers do not have to travel abroad," he told the BBC.

"The Irish economy will also benefit from having access to home games while Lansdowne Road stadium is being developed."

IRFU chief executive Philip Browne said the agreement was a "significant milestone in Irish sport" and FAI chief executive John Delaney described it as "historic".

"It will be a major celebration for Irish sport and indeed for the general public in Ireland. The entire rugby community looks forward to what will be magnificent sporting occasions at Croke Park," said Browne.

Croke Park Open for Soccer, Rugby

“GOD Save the Queen” could soon ring out in Croke Park following an agreement with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to allow soccer and rugby internationals be played at the home of Gaelic football.

A deal was clinched on Tuesday that will see the stadium opened up to foreign sports for the first time in GAA history. At least six internationals will be played in Croke Park in 2007.

The rugby games will kick off with an Ireland/French international followed closely by an Ireland/England game played in front 80,000 fans. The matches are part of next year’s Six Nations Championship.

Steve Staunton, himself a former GAA player, will lead the Irish soccer team on to the hallowed ground early next year for the first soccer international to be played in a GAA stadium.

At least three soccer matches will be played in Croke Park as part of the country’s bid to qualify for the 2008 European Championships.

The deal is said to be worth some ¤6 million to the GAA, although officials on all sides refused to reveal the exact details of the contract.

Sporting, political and business leaders have welcomed the move. It had been feared that the Irish soccer team would have to play games abroad if a deal had not been clinched. Lansdowne Road, which has up to now hosted both rugby and soccer internationals, will be closed in 2007 for redevelopment.

Welcoming the deal, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce said the capital’s economy could have lost more than ¤90 million over the next two years if soccer and rugby home internationals were switched overseas.

The GAA, the IRFU and the FAI announced the agreement in a joint statement on Tuesday afternoon.

GAA president Sean Kelly said he was pleased that agreement had been reached between the respective sporting organizations.

He said the development was practical and necessary to ensure Irish sport and its fans did not have to travel abroad and the Irish economy will still benefit from home games while Lansdowne Road Stadium is being developed.

FAI chief executive John Delaney described the agreement as an historic day for soccer and sport in Ireland.

“The prospect of the Irish international soccer team playing in Croke Park will appeal to everyone who has an interest in sport,” he said.

The deal brings to an end years of public controversy and heated debate within the GAA itself.

The actual decision to open the grounds to foreign sports was taken at the organization’s annual congress last April. A two-thirds majority of the 336 delegates was needed to amend the GAA’s controversial Rule 42.

The motion was eventually passed after a secret ballot by a margin of 227 to 97 votes. The motion was proposed by the Tyrone delegation.

At a special congress in 2001 the GAA changed the controversial rule to allow members of the security forces in Britain and Northern Ireland to play hurling and football.

Last year a Gaelic football team made up of members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland togged out in the GAA’s Sigerson Cup football competition for universities.
