Loach's Irish film tipped for Cannes
Ken Loach's Irish War of Independence drama 'The Wind That Shakes the Barley' has been mentioned as one of the potential films for competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The Festival takes place from 17 to 28 May and the competition films will be announced next month.
'The Wind That Shakes the Barley' stars Cillian Murphy and Liam Cunningham as brothers involved in the guerrilla war against the Black and Tans.
It is set in Ireland during the early 1920s and looks at the turbulent years through the eyes of a family and a guerrilla unit.
This is Loach's first historical film since Spanish Civil War story 'Land and Freedom' (1995) and was written by Loach's longtime collaborator Paul Laverty.
