Lennon, McCartney e l'Irlanda

In occasione dell'arrivo in Italia del Macca per i concerti di Roma si è parlato anche del contrasto tra lui ed il grande Lennon.

In una trasmissione musicale "seral-notturna" di RaiDue è stato documentato che nel 1972 entrambi, dopo avere intrapreso la carriera post-Beatles, hanno pubblicato sui rispettivi album solisti una canzone dedicata alla questione irlandese.

McCartney (assieme alla moglie Linda) ha composto "Give Ireland back to the Irish" e Lennon (con Yoko Ono) un altro brano di cui non ho afferrato il titolo (il testo denunciava secoli di oppressione inglese ai danni del popolo irlandese)

Qualcuno di voi può postare i due testi sul forum ?

Il brano di John Lennon si chiama "The luck of the Irish" ce l' ho da qualche parte...te lo posterò senza ombra di dubbio.

La canzone "The Luck Of The Irish" fa parte dell'album "Some Time in New York City" uscito il 12 giugno 1972. Oltre alla suddetta composizione, contiene anche "Sunday Bloody Sunday". Ecco i testi delle due canzoni.

Io ho trovato invece il testo del Macca.
Sul sito da cui l'ho preso c'era anche scritto che alcuni considerano questo testo dettato più dal desiderio di acquistare credibilità presso i critici (in un periodo dove la musica era molto legata alll'impegno sociale) che il frutto di una reale e sentita partecipazione alla causa irlandese.
